Er gaan al tijden voorspellingen rond van een aanstaande crash van de economie.

Daarvoor zijn goede redenen, maar voorspellen wanneer dat precies plaatsvinden moet is vanzelfsprekend koffiedik kijken. David Stockman is zo’n kofiiefikkijker, maar niet de minste. Hij was Director of the Office of Management and Budget (1981–1985) onder President Ronald Reagan. Het is terugkijkend op zijn voorspellingen van twee maanden terug interessant om te zien wat er is gebeurd nu de precieze politiek van Trump nog onvoldoende helder is, maar wel alle verdere voorbereidingen vooran handelverdragen met Azië zijn afgeblazen.
