Het heeft even geduurd eer ik vond dat het gebruik van de term ‘mislukte staatsgreep’ gerechtvaardigd was. Maar de onderzoeken naar misstappen uit de Obama-era rechtvaardigen geen andere omschrijving meer.

Dit is ook precies het gevoel dat binnen de regering-Trump heerst. AG Barr heeft nu een openbaar aanklager aangesteld om onderzoek te doen naar de wijze waarop de heksenjacht op Trump cs sinds 2017 ooit van start kon gaan.

Attorney General William Barr has appointed US Attorney John H. Durham of Connecticut to examine the origins of the Trump-Russia investigation to determine if the FBI’s spying on the Trump campaign was “lawful and appropriate,” according to Fox News.

The move comes as the Trump administration has demanded answers over the use of “informants” on his 2016 campaign.
According to Fox, Barr is “serious” and has assembled a team from the DOJ to participate in the probe, adding that Durham is known as a “hard-charging, bulldog” prosecutor according to their source.

Sources familiar with matter say the focus of the probe includes the pre-transition period — prior to Nov. 7, 2016 – – including the use and initiation of informants, as well as potential Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) abuses.

An informant working for U.S. intelligence posed as a Cambridge University research assistant in September 2016 to try extracting any possible ties between the Trump campaign and Russia from George Papadopoulos, then a Trump foreign policy adviser, it emerged earlier this month. Papadopoulos told Fox News the informant tried to “seduce” him as part of the “bizarre” episode.

Durham previously has investigated law enforcement corruption, the destruction of CIA videotapes and the Boston FBI office’s relationship with mobsters. He is set to continue to serve as the chief federal prosecutor in Connecticut. –Fox News

Of note – in January House Republicans Jim Jordan and Mark Meadows wrote to Durham, saying that they had “discovered” he was “investigating former FBI General Counsel James Baker” over unauthorized leaks to the media, adding “We know the DOJ and FBI departed from traditional investigative and prosecutorial practices, and insufficiently adhered to the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA).

And so while Obama-era officials have scrambled to perform damage control ahead of negative potential outcomes, Attorney General William Barr, James Clapper, and the CIA’s former chief of counterintelligence (among others) have concluded that the Obama admin absolutely spied on Donald Trump and his campaign.

Downer told Aussie intel, which told the FBI, which launched Operation Crossfire Hurricane.

Nowhere did Baker mention Joseph Mifsud, a Maltese professor and self-professed member of the Clinton Foundation who is the genesis of the Russian ‘dirt’ rumor – planted it with Papadopoulos several weeks after returning from a trip to Moscow.

Hier gaan zaken uit het spoor lopen die meer onderzoek vergen. Maar tot en met de volgende presidentsverkiezingen zijn er nog anderhalf jaar te gaan. Zodat zelfs als Trump niet herkozen zou worden, de juridische onderzoeken voldoende op streek zullen zijn om de koppen van diverse spijkers te gaan slaan.

Naar verwachting zullen meer vragen om beantwoording schreeuwen naarmate de onderzoeken verder en dieper graven. Wat de rol was van Obama’s CIA-directeur (een kabinetspost) Brennan, waarom geen Democraat ooit interesse heeft getoond voor die delen van het Mueller-dossier die wel direct openbaar werden? Waarom stelde Special Counsel Mueller voor Russiagate een team samen dat louter uit Democraten bestond?  Plus de toedracht achter de wijze waarop voormalig Trump-adviseur George Papadopoulos. door de FBI werd geframed? Legitieme vragen waarop het antwoord van belang zal blijken. Maar de meeste onrust aan de kant van Deep State samenzweerders zal zijn ontstaan door wat voormalig Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein afgelopen maandag liet weten:

While discussing Comey’s handling of the Hillary Clinton email investigation, Rosenstein said that “while there are many issues in our line [of work] in which a range of decisions may be reasonable, there are bright lines that should never be crossed,” criticizing Comey’s decision to hold a July 2016 press conference in which he explained why Clinton would not face charges. He then slammed Comey’s 11th hour letter to Congress days before the 2016 election explaining that decision.

Was de door Trump in 2017 ontslagen FBI-directeur Comey een samenzweerder of slechts een incompetente zwakkeling? Komend jaar zal ook daarover een oordeel woren geveld. Dat Comey in de tang zit zonder veel hoop op ontsnapping, maakt zijn positie steeds interessanter. Want veel informatie zal pas loskomen als een aantal van diegenen die onderzocht gaan worden de noodzaak voelen hun eigen huid te redden.
